Lab News — No. 01

We read the papers
so you can stop
reading the comments.

Skincare content is written to be shared, which is why it is written in certainties. The actual literature is written in ranges, caveats and sample sizes of forty. This is where we translate one into the other — and say so when the honest answer is that nobody knows yet.

The standing rules

  • Mechanism before advice. If we cannot explain why something works, we do not tell you to do it.
  • No hero ingredient. Nothing here will be sold to you as the molecule that changes everything.
  • No affiliate links, ever. We sell one thing, it is on the front page, and it is not a cream.
  • We name the limits. Sample size, funding, and whether it was tested on humans or on cells in a dish.

Entry 02 is being written. It is on whether ceramide ratios in over-the-counter moisturisers matter as much as the labels imply.
